FAQ's

A dedicated FAQ section can provide patients with quick answers to common concerns, reducing unnecessary calls and confusion. Some useful questions to address include:

Do I need a referral?

In the state of Tennessee, you do not need a doctor’s referral to receive treatment at Integrative Physical Therapy. Tennessee allows direct access to physical therapy, meaning you can schedule an appointment and begin treatment without first seeing a physician. This allows for faster care, earlier pain relief, and a more proactive approach to healing. Whether you're dealing with chronic pain, recovering from an injury, or seeking preventative care, our Integrative Physical Therapy services are available to you without unnecessary delays. If your condition requires further medical evaluation, we will refer you to the appropriate healthcare provider.

How long are the sessions?

Each session is 60 minutes

What happens at my first visit?

We begin with a comprehensive evaluation, where your therapist will discuss your medical history, current symptoms, lifestyle factors, and treatment goals. A hands-on assessment follows, which may include posture and movement analysis, soft tissue and joint mobility testing, and neurological assessments to identify underlying restrictions or dysfunctions.

Based on our findings, we will develop a customized treatment plan that may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, nervous system regulation techniques, and education on posture and movement strategies. You will also receive your first hands-on treatment session to start addressing pain, mobility issues, or tension right away.

Before you leave, we’ll discuss what to expect moving forward, provide recommendations for home care, and schedule follow-up visits as needed.

When will I feel results?

Many patients feel relief after the first session. The speed of results depends on factors like the severity of your condition, how long you’ve had it, and your body’s natural healing response. Acute issues may improve within a few visits, while chronic or complex conditions may take longer. Your therapist will tailor your treatment plan to ensure steady progress and long-term relief.
